May Shin’s speech about trends in TESOL was delivered last Wednesday. She mentioned about multiliteracies. She said that nowadays, teachers should know about multimedia such as internet, video etc to teach students effectively. It’s true. There are so many advanced technologies and they are used for education. Through the internet, teachers can draw the pupils’ attention. Therefore, the ability to deal with multimedia well is needed for teachers. When I was teaching in the academy, that academy used one effective program for the students. The program’s name was “hwak-in English(확인영어)”, which was so famous. I heard it was very good program. However, it was kind of hard work for me to deal with. I was ignorant of the computer and multimedia skills. I was a real illiteracy for the multimedia. I just felt it was so complicated program at that time and it made me annoyed. That’s why I didn’t utilize that program effectively for my students. So now I think the teachers should know the new skills like internet well and try to catch up with the trend.
